South Korea’s Ministry of Science, Information and Communication announced that it is seeking companies to participate in a 2022 metaverse content creation project. According to the ministry’s director, the project is being promoted as part of the country’s industry-leading metaverse strategy.
Building Trust in the Metaverse Content Creation Ecosystem
South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICTand the National Institute of Information and Communications Industryannounced today that they are inviting companies to participate in the 2022 Metaverse Content Creation Project, in collaboration with the National Information and Communications Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). Through this project, Korea will support local metaverse content makers as well as issue Non-Fungible Token (NFT).
According to the Korean-language News 1 report, the goal of the project is to provide confidence in the metaverse content creation ecosystem. Four companies have been selected for the project and will each receive approximately $160,000 (200 million won).
Meanwhile, Heo Won-Seok, director of the Software Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Information, is quoted in the report as to why Korea is embracing the metaverse. The Director General stated.
This project is being promoted as part of the Metaverse New Industry Leading Strategy. We will work hard to lay the groundwork for Korea to leap forward as a leading metaverse country by providing content that can be enjoyed by various age groups and supporting the creative activities of creators.
According to the report, companies wishing to participate must submit their applications by July 8, and content creators and content development companies that wish to participate can form consortiums with token-issuing companies.
