Behind the initiative to get in Kazakhstan to work in the industry. Under an agreement with the government, blockchain courses will be added to the curricula of higher education institutions across the country.
Binance Exchange to Teach Blockchain in Kazakhstan Universities
Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, is launching an educational program in Kazakhstan. According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the trading platform is preparing to provide blockchain training to more than 40,000 students at universities across Central Asia by 2026.
Binance is part of the Payments and Financial Technology Development Center of the National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) and the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC), the Ministry of Digital Development, and the Ministry of Education.
This project will be realized under a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with these government agencies signed by Mr. Zaslan Madiev, General Manager of Binance His Kazakhstan. Pursuant to the agreement, the exchange will provide educational materials and support foundational courses on blockchain and compliance.
Kazakhstan is now one of the first countries to add a blockchain curriculum to its university education programs, the announcement notes. “Professionals with knowledge of blockchain, digital assets and compliance will be a resource for the global blockchain industry,” the participants hoped. Gleb Kostarev, Head of Asia at Binance, commented:
Kazakhstan supports Kazakhstan’s goal of becoming a major player in digital technology, which cannot be achieved without expanding education and blockchain adoption nationwide.
The global cryptocurrency exchange seeks expansion in Central Asia
The initiative was announced in May this year by Binance founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao. It stems from the president’s meeting with his Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In October, Binance offered to help the Kazakhstan government “safely develop” the cryptocurrency sector. NBK plans to use his Bnb Chain for the rollout of Digital Tenge.
Also in October, Binance obtained a license to operate as a provider of crypto exchange and custody services from the Astana financial hub. Kazakhstan came into focus after it became a major mining hotspot since Chinese authorities cracked down on the industry in 2021. That government is trying to regulate the crypto space.
The global platform is also meeting with officials in neighboring Kyrgyzstan as it seeks to expand its presence in the region as the crypto winter continues. Earlier this month, it also offered to help the government of Azerbaijan, another former Soviet republic, in its efforts to establish a domestic regulatory framework for digital assets.
