Blockchain.com Plans to Provide an NFT Domain Name to 83 Million Wallet Users

According to the company, 83 million Blockchain.com wallet users will receive free .blockchain domains in the coming weeks.

long been a pioneer in the crypto space since launching its first Bitcoin (BTC) block explorer in 2011. This week, the company announced that it has partnered with Web3 digital ID companyAnnounced that it has partnered with Unstoppable Domains Company. The startup is an identity company specializing in Web3 services and a domain name provider that has issued 2.4 million registered usernames.

The two companies announced the launch of the first branded top-level domain by Unstoppable Domains, which will be called .blockchain. blockchain.com says that in the coming weeks, all 83 million Blockchain. com wallet users will all be able to create free .blockchain domain names in the coming weeks, according to Blockchain.com. The .blockchain domain name will replace long alphanumeric crypto wallet addresses, allowing funds to be sent to human-readable names like “sarah.blockchain” rather than using long addresses.

The .blockchain name can also serve as a web3 identifier, allowing users to trade with distributed applications (dapps), marketplaces, metaverse apps, and social media platforms. Blockchain.com’s Chief Business Officer Lane Kasselman believes the new .blockchain feature will facilitate millions of users utilizing the company’s non-custodial wallet.

“With .blockchain domains, our users can not only send and receive crypto as easily as sending an email, but also own their identity on Web3,” Kasselman said in a statement at the time of the announcement.” Our partnership with Unstoppable Domains marks the first custom top-level domain (TLD) and gives us a unique way to share our .blockchain name with the millions of users of the Blockchain.com Wallet.”

On Friday, Unstoppable Domains further stated that .blockchain domains will also be available through its web portal. once an NFT domain name is claimed, it will be retained by the user permanently retained by the user. The company utilizes the Polygon blockchain to mint NFT domain names, with zero minting or renewal fees.
