Bulgarian Chief Prosecutor Accused of Willfully Failing to Act Against Onecoin Fraudsters

Jonathan Levy, legal representative for victims of the bitcoin fraud operation Onecoin, has accused Bulgarian prosecutors of deliberate failure to act against Onecoin. The lawyer said that more victims have lost millions of dollars to scammers because of the prosecutor’s inaction.

Prosecutor Refuses to Take Action Against Ruja Ignatova’s Mother

Jonathan Levy, a lawyer representing victims of the Onecoin bitcoin scam, has suggested that the ringleaders of this criminal scheme may have received protection from Bulgaria’s chief prosecutor, Ivan Geshev. In an open letter to Yuliya Kovacheva, Bulgaria’s Undersecretary of Justice, the lawyer claims that Geshev’s inaction allowed Onecoin to defraud new victims out of millions of dollars.

According to Levy, despite the existence of arrest warrants issued by Interpol, Europol, and German law enforcement, prosecutors have not taken action against the mother of key Onecoin ringleader Ruja Ignatova.

As Bitcoin.com News previously reported, Ignatova was placed on Europol’swantedlist after the law enforcement group accused her of being the driving force and intellectual inventor of Onecoin. The agency subsequently decided to offer a reward of more than $5,300 to anyone with information that could lead to Ignatova’s arrest.

The letter also suggests that if Geshev takes action, the Onecoin masterminds will be forced to halt their operations. He further states that

this inaction by the Prosecutor’s Office will allow Onecoin’s Sofia office to maintain operations in Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia and to continue receiving millions of monthly cryptocurrency (BTC,ETH,USDT) payments from new victims in the form of They can continue to receive monthly payments of millions of euros in cryptocurrencies (BTC
