Report: UAE’s Emirates Airline Set to Use ‘Bitcoin as a Payment Service’

One of the leading airlines in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Emirates Airline, said it has plans to add “bitcoin as a payment service.” The airline plans to recruit staff to create applications that track customer needs.

Two different applications and approaches

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) leading airline Emirates Airline will soon adopt “bitcoin as a payment service,” Chief Operating Officer Adel Ahmed Al Redha said. In addition, the airline will add collectible non-flying tokens (NFTs) to its web page.

Reports of the airline’s plans to embrace bitcoin come just weeks after it revealed its plans for NFT and metaverse. According to Bitcoin.com News, the company’s goal in launching the metaverse is to ensure the airline is “aligned with the UAE’s vision for the digital economy.”

In statementspublished in Arab News, Al Redha hinted that his company may have to hire employees to help create apps that track customer needs. He also talked about the differences between NFT and metaverse. He explained:

“NFTs and metaverse are two different applications and approaches. With metaverse, you can transform all of your processes-whether it’s work, training, site sales, or full experience-into metaverse-type applications, but more importantly, make them interactive.”

The report doesn’t say when the airline plans to launch its bitcoin payment service.
