Elon Musk, Mark Cuban Discuss Using Dogecoin to Solve Twitter Spam Problem

Shark Tank star Mark Cuban has figured out how to solve the Twitter spam problem using the meme cryptocurrency dogecoin (DOGE). Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk agrees it’s “not a bad idea.” Twitter recently accepted Musk’s buyout offer.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk discussed on Twitter how to solve the problem of spam bots on the platform. He promised to solve the spam problem “or die trying.” Last week, Twitter agreed to sell the company to Musk for about $44 billion.

One offer came from American billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban. He is the star of the television reality show Shark Tank and the owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.

In his tweet early Sunday morning, Cuban invited everyone to pledge one dogecoin (DOGE) for an unlimited number of Twitter posts. If someone marked a message as spam, and a person confirmed that it was spam, that person would receive the spammer’s DOGE. He went on to explain that spammers must post 100 times as much dogecoin. However, if the message is not spam, then the tagger loses his dogecoin.

As of this writing, Cuban’s tweet has been liked over 9,000 times. Dogecoin co-author Billy Marcus said: “I like it.” Musk replied, “Not a bad idea.”

Many dogecoin supporters believe that Cuban’s proposal is a good idea, noting that it is very favorable for DOGE. However, some are skeptical of its viability, questioning the requirement to start paying for what is currently a free service, and forcing people to use meme cryptocurrency as collateral to prevent spamming.

Some people have raised the issue that unscrupulous users may be using the system for self-serving purposes. One Twitter user responded to Cuban, “Nope. You haven’t thought this issue through. How do you deal with unscrupulous subjects flagging spam that isn’t there, and people confirming that it’s spam, only to get a ‘spammer’s’ coin?”

The Tesla boss promised to make “significant improvements” to Twitter. He called crypto-spam bots “the most annoying problem on Twitter.” Before the social media giant accepted his buyout offer, he said that if his offer to buy Twitter was successful, he would “beat the spam bots or die trying.”

Both Musk and Cuban were supporters of dogecoin. Musk is often referred to as the “father of dochecoin.” Last August, they both said that dogecoin was the “strongest” cryptocurrency for payments. Cuban’s NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks, accepts DOGE for goods, and the Shark Tank star also encourages people to switch to cryptocurrency via dogecoin.
