Elon Musk slams Microsoft-funded Openai, Google founder for AI approach

Entrepreneur Elon Musk has announced plans to create his own AI to rival the tech giant’s offerings. This new platform, which he calls “Truthgpt,” should attempt to understand the universe without threatening humanity.

Speaking to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, Musk accused Openai, the developer ofChatgptchatbots, of “training the AI to lie.” He said the company now has “a very strong voice with Microsoft.” He believes it has become a closed-source “for-profit organization.”

Elon Musk helped found Openai in 2015.” It’s to serve as a counterbalance to Google.” In an interview broadcast Monday, the billionaire also criticized tech giant co-founder Larry Page for not taking AI safety seriously.

Musk recently joined a group of AI experts and executives who warned of the potential risks to society and called for a six-month pause in the development of systems more powerful than Openai’s latest model GPT-4.” AI is more dangerous than, for example, mismanaged aircraft design and production maintenance or faulty automobile production,” he told Carlson.

“We are going to start what we call ‘Truthgpt,’ or maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe,” the Tesla owner elaborated. He also said that his AI platform is “unlikely to annihilate humans” and “may be the best path to safety,” according to excerpts cited by Reuters.

Sources familiar with the plan told the news agency that Musk is recruiting AI researchers from Google to launch an AI startup. While admitting that the project has been slow to get off the ground, he insisted that he is “trying to create a third option” after Openai’s Chatgpt and Google’s Bard.In March, investors registered a company in Nevada called X.AI Corp.
