United Arab Emirates (UAE) airline Emirates has announced plans to launch a non-gaming tokenization (NFT) and meta-universe experience for its employees and customers. This launch aligns with the UAE’s digital economy and virtual asset initiatives.
The first projects are already underway
UAE-based Emirates Airlines said it will soon launch non-playable tokens (NFT) and “immersive experiences in the meta universe” for its customers and employees. According to the airline, the move is in line with the UAE’s advances in the digital economy as well as the country’s virtual asset initiatives.
In a recently released statement , the airline said that work on the first projects is already underway, and “a launch is expected in the coming months.” Speaking about Emirates’ plans to introduce NFT, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and CEO of the airline, noted the history of implementing advanced technology at his company.
The UAE’s vision for the digital economy
Al Maktoum also talked about what Emirates hopes to achieve with the launch of the NFT. He said:
We are excited about the digital opportunities of the future and are ready to invest significant financial and resource resources in developing products and services using advanced technologies that will increase revenue, improve brand experiences and improve business performance.
To help put Emirates on the path to achieving these goals, the CEO stated that the Emirates Pavilion, dedicated to the future of airliner at the Expo, is “being repurposed as a center for developing future best practices in line with the UAE’s digital economy vision.”
The airline also said in a statement that Emirates will continue to work with its partners on the Web3 strategy.
