On Thursday, Uniswap Labs, the company behind the popular decentralized finance (defi) protocol Uniswap, launched a tool called Swap Widget. Essentially, the widget allows developers and operators of decentralized applications (dapp) to embed Uniswap’s decentralized exchange (dex) application with a “single line of code.”
Software engineers can now embed the Uniswap exchange feature into Web3 Dapps
One of the largest dapps by trade volume, Uniswap, has announced the launch of a new widget tool that enables dapp operators to integrate Uniswap into their third-party apps. The Uniswap blog post announcing the new Swap Widget explains that the integration is simple because it requires just one React component and one line of code.
“We envision a world where everyone can access fair, open and transparent marketplaces,” the company said Thursday. “The Swap Widget brings that vision closer to reality by allowing developers to easily embed the Uniswap exchange feature, allowing their users to easily exchange tokens, join a community or DAO, swap assets and more without leaving their apps.”
The Swap Widget has a customizable user interface, and for pricing, the widget “connects the Uniswap Labs automated router to find the best price in Uniswap v2 + v3 token pools. The widget also connects to Level 2 (L2) chains, including Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism. Uniswap claims that the Swap widget is already available in a number of popular Web3 apps, such as Oasis.app, Friends With Benefits, and the Opensea non-functional token marketplace (NFT).
As of Thursday, the widget is fully available for embedding in Web3 applications, and people can follow the instructions using Uniswap’s developer documentation To ask questions or get technical support, interested Swap Widget users should join the group’s Discord channel. As of this writing, Uniswap v3 has the highest trading volume of the many dex protocols with $1.11 billion in 24 hours. According to dex platform statistics, there are 479 unique tokens and about 923 pairs available on Uniswap.
