After the Twitter logo was changed from the original blue bird to a cartoon image of the famous Shiba Inu dog, the cryptocurrency dogecoin gained significantly in value and is up 27% after more than 12 hours. However, many Bitcoin supporters were disgusted by the logo change, with a few claiming that Elon Musk was promoting an “unregistered security” by making the change.
Doge Logo Change Has Upset the Handful of Bitcoiners, While Others Opposition of Discontent
On April 3, 2023, the Twitter logo was changed to a cartoon image of the popular meme Doge the Shiba Inu, for reasons unknown. The image, which is simply a cartoon image of Doge, has become directly associated with the cryptocurrency meme asset dogecoin (DOGE).Twitter owner Elon Musk is facing a multi-billion dollar lawsuit alleging that his tweets artificially inflated the price of DOGE Some even speculated that he replaced the logo with a DOGE meme in order to troll against the recent filing of a
Meanwhile, mainstream media publications like Mashabletried to downplay Twitter’s logo change by calling it a “corporate crisis” and claiming that the Internet “responded by laughing at (not with) Elon Musk”. Additionally, many Bitcoin supporters tweeted against the logo change and criticized Musk for not highlighting the major cryptocurrency, BTC. One individual wrote,.” Are you pumping centralized unregistered securities again, [Elon Musk]?” Anotheropines, “Dogecoin needs Elon Musk to win… Bitcoin doesn’t need anyone. So we will win.”
Elon’s dumb little Doge stunt is absolutely worth every upset it has caused among salty Bitcoin maximalists.

After the logo change, Twitter was filled with posts from Bitcoin supporters complaining about Doge’s logo swap.” Dogecoin is not “money for the people” as Elon Musk advertises. Bitcoin is.”and tweetedMark Harvey “This is due to block size. In a virtual world where both blockchains are fully adopted (every block is completely full of transactions), dogecoin would be significantly more centralized than bitcoin,” Harvey argued. Bitcoin author and educator Anita Posh stressed that the logo change was “overkill.”
“This is really overkill,” Poshsaid.” What a blatant promotion of Dogecoin. I really liked Twitter, but Eron is making everything worse.”
Not everyone agreed with the bitcoin supporters who tweeted against the logo change. Onerespondedto allegations of pumping “unregistered securities”.” This new breed of completely anti-free market, pro-government regulation bitcoiners confuses me.” “[Elon Musk is] clearly trolling. Why are we so outraged?” another individualasked. While Poshclaimed that “a lot of people will lose out” and that it was “totally irresponsible,”others disputed the author’s claims.
“If people lose money because someone traded a dog logo for a bird logo, they totally deserve to lose it. Nothing irresponsible about this,” one persontweetedto Posh.
Still, many bitcoin supporters felt compelled to criticize Twitter’s new owners for changing the logo. Elon Musk, how would changing the Twitter logo to a DOGE dog help your stated goal of “doing something useful for civilization?” You are helping to distract from the most important invention in human history since the Internet, Bitcoin,”wrote. Brett Morrison, CEO of truevote.org.
And, of course, some people havedismissed these views as closed-minded maxism.” I would say the same about maxis, who are keeping thousands of people away from Bitcoin with their Hubris; Doge may become more historically important than Bitcoin,”and to Morrison’s complaint, one person responded.
