According to data from Coin ATM Radar, a cryptocurrency automated teller machine (ATM) aggregation website, over 3,600 crypto ATMs went offline in March. since the end of 2022, the number of crypto ATMs decreased by 13.91% over the past three months.
The number of crypto ATMs will decline in 2023
according to data from Coin ATM RadarThe number of crypto ATMs worldwide has declinedby 13.91%since December 2022. At that point, there were 39,179 crypto ATMs installed worldwide.
In January, 1,587 crypto ATMs went offline, marking the second time a large number of machines went offline since September 2022, when 399 crypto ATMs disappeared; in February 2023, the decline in crypto ATMs was less dramatic than in January and less than the drawdown in September.
A total of 275 cryptocurrency ATMs went offline in February. According to Coin ATM Radarstatisticsthe largest decrease was recorded in March and showed a decrease of 3,627 crypto ATMs.
March losses coincided with the recent General Bytes hack on March 17 and 18, where over $1.5 million in crypto was stolen; according to April 1, 2023 statistics, there are now 33,728 crypto ATMs installed worldwide.
General Byte machines account for 28.5%worldwide and BitAccess equipment has a 20.2% share; Genesis Coin ATMs account for 17% of machines worldwide and Coincloud devices have a 12.7% share.
As of Saturday, April 1, 2023, the United States has the most crypto ATMs in the world, followed by Canada, Australia, and Spain. There are more than 28,000 crypto ATMs in the U.S. and more than 2,600 crypto ATMs in Canada.
Crypto ATMsManufacturing Growthdata shows Bitaccess declining and General Bytes growth trending upward; Genesis Coin also declined, but much less so than Bitaccess’ February-to-March decline.
