In-Chat Tether Transfers Introduced in Telegram

Telegram messenger users can now send each other tether (usdt), a major stablecoin, directly in chat. This new option expands the list of cryptocurrencies that can be bought, sold, and traded on the messaging app.

Tether has been added to the Telegram Messenger wallet bot

Telegram, the most popular messaging service in the crypto space, has introduced support for trading with the largest stablecoin, the USD-pegged Tether.

USDThas been integrated into the Telegram Wallet bot, allowing users to buy, sell, exchange, and transfer tethers among themselves for free.

“We are happy to announce the long-awaited integration ofUSDT into @wallet, making sending stablecoins as easy as sharing a photo,” the wallet service said in a Telegram post .

Tether balance replenishment can be done from the bot’s main menu, using the externalUSDTwallet, as well as bank cards and Telegram’s peer-to-peer (P2P) market to purchase stablecoins. The wallet has announced that it will only accept transfers from the TRC-20 network.

The wallet interface has been updated. All crypto assets can be seen on the start page, and users can choose which coins to view in the “Settings” section. Purchase options are available in the “Markets” section.

Messenger’s P2P marketplace has also been revamped, allowing users to buy and sell stablecoins directly within the bot by selecting one of the available offers. An “Exchange” feature has appeared on the main page, allowing users to tradeUSDTand TON.

TON coins (TON), which can also be sent via chat, and Bitcoin (BTC), the largest crypto by market capitalization, have been added to the unofficial @wallet in April 2022 bots added in April 2022.

The Telegram Open Network (TON) blockchain was launched in 2018. However, in 2020, Telegram withdrew from the project due to a lawsuit with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Further support for the TON network was provided by members of the TON Foundation community, who continue its development, RBC Crypto noted in its report.

Telegram is not directly involved in the expansion of the TON ecosystem, but it remains involved. Last year, the messenger launched a blockchain platform calledFragments that facilitates the purchase and sale of usernames that can be collected in TON coins.
