Unity Gaming Engine Launches Blockchain and Web3 Integration Options

Game engine developer Unity has announced the introduction of several blockchain-based integration options for its platform. The new options offer developers the opportunity to leverage digital IDs, tokens, Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), and other technologies directly integrated into the Unity engine.

Unity reveals new decentralized push with its game engine

Unity, the gaming industry’s largest company, has announcedsupport for a number of new blockchain technologies in its engineAn option for developers, users will be able to take real ownership of in-game assets, as well as manage tokens and digital identity solutions that can be exported to the real world.

This means that developers will be able to leverage these technologies and integrate them into their games in a streamlined way, focusing on building experiences rather than the technicalities derived from complex blockchain implementations. This includes play-to-earn model-based games and NFT-focused experience design.

The “Validated Solutions” technology includes 13 software development kits for integrating blockchain services, including Aikon Ore ID, Algorand, Altura, Aptos Labs, Dapper Labs, Immutable X, the Infura, Metamask, Nefta, Pocketful of Quarters, Solana, Tezos, and Truffle are purpose-built distributed solutions.

Some of these tools include token management wallets, others focus on facilitating the handling of digital identity processes in the virtual world, and others provide metaverse creation options.

These “validated solutions” are available for free from the Unity Asset Store and can be used by small developers for training and building small apps that integrate blockchain, lowering the bar for access to these tools.

Unity, Metaverse, and Web3

Unity is already being used by metaverse gaming powerhouses such as The Sandbox and Decentraland, which are two of the best-known blockchain-powered experiences on the market.

Unity CEO John Riccitiello has declared his optimism regarding the adoption of these technologies in the not-too-distant future: in June, Riccitiello announced that by 2030 the Internet will be a series of interconnected metaverse sites His vision is to transform the Internet into a

In doing so, Riccitiello noted that more than 50% of the real-time experiences offered in the gaming market are built with Unity tools, making this move all the more significant in integrating these technologies into existing games.
