On Monday, Wasabi Wallet and open source bitcoin payment processor Btcpay announced a new plug-in for the Btcpay server. The plugin implements Wasabi’s Wabisabi CoinJoin reconciliation protocol, allowing merchants to benefit from enhanced privacy. By activating the newly launched plugin, all funds sent and received by merchants will be coin-jointed, meaning they will be mixed with other bitcoin transactions.
The new Btcpay server plugin aims to enhance bitcoin privacy
privacy-conscious bitcoin wallet platform announced that Wasabi Wallet and Bitcoin Payment Processor have announced a new Btcpay server plugin that will allow Wasabi Wallet and Bitcoin Payment Processor announcedthat Btcpaynow has the ability for merchants to obfuscate the sending and receiving of Bitcoin (BTC)transactions.
The technology comes in the form of a new plugin for Btcpay developed by Andrew Camilleri and based on Wasabi Wallet’s Wabisabi coinjoin adjustment protocol. the Btcpay plugin’s scheme is based on the “My store’s protects the privacy of all its deposit and withdrawal transactions by preventing sensitive information about payment history from being leaked to unrelated third parties,” Wasabi explained in a brief sent to Bitcoin.com News.
“Btcpay Server was created to empower individuals and businesses to reclaim their financial sovereignty.” Kukks, developer of the Btcpay Coinjoin Plugin, said in a statement. “The Wasabi Wallet team and I are proud to offer even more privacy protection with this new Coinjoin feature. I believe financial privacy is a basic human right, and this feature is my contribution to that cause.”
The announcement details that all Btcpay Server merchants will be able to utilize the coinjoin process with a liquid coordinator provided by Zksnacks, the company behind Wasabi Wallet. Additionally, Btcpay Server administrators can start their own coinjoin coordinators on their own terms if they choose not to use Zksnacks’ coordinators. The two companies further mention that the new coinjoin service will also offer a payment batching feature that will save block space.

Max Hillebrand,contributor to Wasabi Wallet and CEO of Zksnacks, said, “We are very excited about this.” As a coinjoin protocol, Wabisabi was designed with merchants in mind, enabling payments within coinjoins and optimizing the use of block space to save on fees.”
Btcpay is not the only company to work with Wasabi to implement privacy-enhancing coinjoin technology; in September 2022, Trezor announced that it would add a coinjoin implementation to its hardware wallet.
