On February 17, 2023, Tokyo-based Sony Network Communications, Inc. and Astor Network, a multi-chain smart contracting platform and Web3 Incubation Program to be held jointly. The program is now open for applications, and Sony and Aster will jointly mentor Web3 projects “focused on the utility” of Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs).
Sony and Astar to Co-Host Web3 Incubation Program
Sony Network Communications, aJapanese technology giant Sony Group subsidiary, announced Friday that it is exploring ways to address industry challenges using blockchain and Web3 technologies. from mid-March to mid-June,Astar Networkand Web3 Incubation Program is planned with Astar Networkand Singapore’s Startale Labs to enhance related Web3 solutions. Startale was founded by Sota Watanabe, CEO of Astar Network.
According to an announcement sent to Bitcoin.com News, Sony and the Astar Foundation will select “a cohort of 10-15 individuals” from among the applicants. The program is open to anyone from around the world, and sessions will be hosted by venture capital firms including Alchemy Ventures, Fenbushi Capital, and Dragonfly. in mid-June, Sony announced that it will hold an offline demo day at Sony Group headquarters in Tokyo duringJapan Blockchain Week. Sony has long explored metaverse, NFTs, and cryptography; in May 2021, the company announced a patent that would enable the integration of a bitcoin-based betting system into consumer electronics products such as the Playstation gaming system; in November 2022, Sony filed a patent for the use of non-fusible token technology for in-game assets, and in the same month acquired 3D animation company Beyond Sports.
