A Colombian court held one of the first judicial hearings using Metaverse technology. María Victoria Quiñones Triana, a Magdalena Court judge, approved the realization of this hearing using the Horizon Worlds technology provided by Meta and virtual avatars representing the participants in the process.
Colombian Court Holds Metaversal Judicial Hearing
The Colombian court ostensibly made history by holding one of the country’s first judicial processes in the Metaverse.18} The hearingwas held on February 15, February 15 and facilitated by Magdalena Court Judge Maria Victoria Quiñones Triana, the hearing simulated a unified virtual space using the Horizon Worlds technology provided by Meta. The court used a variety of avatars to represent each participant in the complaint.
Quiñones, who stated that verifying the true identity of the assistants was one of the key processes in the metaverse, used verification numbers sent to emails registered in the name of each party to verify their identity. Commenting on the significance of this technology to the judicial branch of government, Quiñones said.
The metaverse constitutes a technological tool that can facilitate access to the administration of justice. The use of information technology in the development of judicial proceedings has the essential purpose of facilitating and expediting these proceedings.
Limitations and Criticisms
The hearing was held without problems, but the 2,500 citizens who listened to the public on Youtube expressed different opinions about the use of metaverse in these processes. While most users supported this action, others stated that this type of hearing had no advantages over video-based hearings. Another objection to this type of virtual process was the inability to analyze the psychological characteristics of the participants because of the avatars in the metaverse rather than realistic video.
One user called for more frequent use of metaverse audiences because of their advantages over regular hearings regarding the travel of citizens living far from the courthouse.

Metaverse is now being used to implement more efficient industrial processes, show and sell automobiles, etc.
