Nigerian City of Lagos Among the World’s Top 20 Crypto Hub Cities — Study

The Nigerian city of Lagos ranks among the top 20 crypto hub cities worldwide, according to a survey by crypto asset management firm Recap. In addition to Lagos, five other African cities feature among the top 50 crypto hub cities: the Angolan city of Luanda, Ibadan, Nigeria, and three South African cities (Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Pretoria).

Lagos ranks among the cities with the most people “working in crypto-based jobs”

The Nigerian city of Lagos is the only African city on the list of top 20 crypto hub cities, according to a recent study by Recap, a crypto asset management firm. With a total score of 261.2, Lagos beats only 13 major cities out of more than 200 “most populous cities in the world” surveyed.

As thesurvey resultsshow, Lagos has the lowest number of crypto-related events and the highest number of bitcoin automated teller machines (ATMs), but boasts the highest ratio of crypto holders to population size (45%). Furthermore, according to the data, Lagos is one of the cities with the highest number of individuals working in “crypto jobs.” Only London, Dubai, New York, Singapore, Los Angeles, and Paris have more people working in such crypto-related jobs.

Lagos, one of the most populous cities in Africa, is among the top 20 crypto hub cities, while the southwestern Nigerian city of Ibadan ranks 24th globally and 2nd in Africa. According to the survey data, Ibadan, which is on par with Lagos in terms of crypto ownership, recorded a total score of 235.8. This score is more than 10 points higher than the next ranked African city, Cape Town (rank 30).

Two South African cities, Pretoria (42) and Johannesburg (46), also made the list of top 50 crypto hub cities, while Luanda, Angola (38) is the sixth African city to make the list.

According to the findings, London is the highest-ranked city with a score of 458.5, closely followed by Dubai with a score of 447.2. New York City (3) and Los Angeles (5) are the only U.S. cities included in the top 10 ranked crypto hub cities, while Singapore City (4) and Bangkok (10) are the only Asian cities on the list.
