Recruiting Agencies in Japan Are Turning to the Metaverse

Metaverse is entering the Japanese job market. According to reports from the site, a large Metaverse job fair was held on January 27, with over 2,000 students participating in the experience. Students communicated using avatars and reviewed job postings prepared at booths managed by several companies.

Metaverse technology is beginning to change the landscape of job hunting and recruiting in Japan. More than 2,000 students participated in the Metaverse Job Fair, where they could use digital avatars to communicate with recruiters and discuss each potential job opportunity.

The Asahi Shimbun reportsthat the anonymity of the metaverse allowed participants to ask sensitive questions about these jobs. 179 companies participated in the initiative, which was organized by NeoCareer, which handled employment-related matters, and X, which handled metaverse-related matters.

Both companies said that it was probably one of the largest events of its kind in Japan, and emphasized the advantages that the Metaverse brings to such recruitment activities. Daiki Nishino of NeoCareer stated.

Metaverse allows both the use of online meetings, where distant students can participate, and the natural meeting and conversation of a face-to-face job fair.

The Future of Metaverse. Digital Presence

While some are pessimistic about the use of metaverse tools in meetings, others are in favor of the impact this technology may have on the field. Satya Nadella, CEO of software company Microsoft, has praised the technology in these efforts. In a recent meeting with Klaus Schwab, president of the World Economic Forum (WEF), he explained that he believes the sense of realism that metaverse apps bring will be “game changing.”

The company is working with the WEF on an initiative called the Global Collaboration Village, which aims to make Davos a year-round event using Metaverse technology so leaders can communicate year-round.

Other institutions in Japan are already using metaverse technology to help people establish a digital presence. For example, in October Toda City reported using metaverse tools to help students attend classes from home as a way to combat truancy. In July, the University of Tokyo announced that it would use the Metaverse Tool to teach engineering classes to teach students about the Metaverse and its functions.
