Central African Republic Sets Up Committee Tasked With Drafting Crypto Bill

The President of the Central African Republic (CAR), Faustin-Archange Touadéra, recently stated that his government has established a 15-member commission tasked with creating a comprehensive legal framework governing the use of cryptocurrencies The committee has already begun its work and will report regularly to the government, according to an official document issued by the CAR cabinet.

Central African Republic (CAR) leader Faustin-Archange Touadéra revealed that his country recently established a committee that is expected to draft a bill on the use of cryptocurrencies. The committee, composed of 15 experts drawn from various government ministries, is expected to create a legal framework that will help CAR achieve its goal of becoming a globally recognized country that embraces blockchain technology.

President Touadera, the first African country to introduce Bitcoin, also released a communiqué on Twitterupdateoutlining his country’s vision and the ministries that have seconded experts to the Commission We have.

“Fifteen experts from several ministries of my government make up the committee responsible for drafting a new, more comprehensive bill on the use of cryptocurrencies and providing CAR with this unique opportunity for economic&technical development,” President Touadéra recently tweeted.

The CAR leader’s latest remarks come just weeks after the team promoting his country’s crypto token known as Coralcoin announced the postponement of the coin’s planned listing, and as Bitcoin.com News reported, the postponement was prompted by what the team called “current market situation” and was prompted by what it called “the situation.

Before being forced to postpone the listing of the coins, the Constitutional Court ruled that the proposal to grant citizenship to coral coin holders was illegal, and the Tuadera government’s coin offering suffered a major setback.

Despite these setbacks, however, the CAR leader’s government has declared that it will proceed with the work. Meanwhile, in a communiqué, the CAR government stated that the committee is already at work and will periodically announce its progress.
