Bitcoin The U.S. dollar is now legal tender in El Salvador, alongside the US dollar. El Salvador will become the first country to issue the world’s largest cryptocurrency fiat currency in September 2021. Since then, the country, led by pro-Bitcoin President Naib Bukele, has purchased thousands of BTC for its national treasury. Last November, Bukele announced that his country would buy Bitcoin every day.
On Wednesday, El Salvador’s parliament passed a digital asset issuance law proposed last November. This includes a new regulatory framework for the issuance of Bitcoin-backed Volcano Bonds. “This new digital asset regulatory framework paves the way for the long-awaited Volcano token issuance,” saidBitfinex, which will be the technology provider for the country’s Volcano token.
