Nigerian court refuses to support arrest plan

As the controversy surrounding the failed arrest of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiere continues to be in the spotlight, Sahara Reporters said Nigerian State Department (DSS) operatives had orders to “arrest him on sight.” Additionally, according to reports based on the testimony of unnamed sources, the operative said he was also monitoring movements at CBN headquarters and at the Emefiere family residence in Lagos.

As described in the report, DSS’s unconfirmed plan to arrest his Emefiele was part of Muhammadu Buhari’s entourage to the US-Africa Summit and the Nigerian High Court Judge John Tsoho rejected a security agency bid to arrest the CBN governor. In his ruling, Tsokh reportedly accused the DSS of trying to use deceptive lawsuits to “deprive a person [Emefiele] of his liberty,”.

Opponents of CBN’s cashless policy want Emefile removed

But court ruling accuses DSS of funding terrorists It doesn’t seem to stop trying to arrest Emefile. The CBN governor was reportedly forced to avoid public gatherings, including a scheduled rally in front of Nigerian MPs, due to rumors that the DSS still wanted to arrest officials.

“Emefiere has refused to return to Nigeria citing heart disease. He was due to return to Nigeria,” said an anonymous source.

Sources also speculate that Emephile will continue to play hide-and-seek with the DSS before eventually leaving his position as CBN governor.

On the other hand,Legit’s report states that Emefiere’s problems with his DSS are politically dissatisfied with his CBN decisions, including the recent introduction of new Naira banknotes. It has been suggested that it was caused by the house. Another report speculates that groups opposing the central bank’s cashless policy support his DSS plan to arrest the CBN governor.
