Ukraine Adds More Crypto Options, ‘Teases’ Airdrop; Platform Selling NFTs for USD 10

In an attempt to further strengthen its fundraising, Ukraine is opening up more crypto options for global donors – and has also intrigued the crypto community by mentioning an airdrop. In addition, a digital platform has launched a non-fungible token (NFT) collection with the goal of collecting USD 430,302,531. Ukraine is not slowing down and is opening as many doors as possible to finance its defense efforts against Russia. They have just announced that they will "soon" accept more cryptoassets for donations to the country, its armed forces and its people.

As reported yesterday, Gavin Wood, the creator of Polkadot, announced that he would donate USD 5m worth of crypto to the country if they published an address in the native token DOT of the blockchain. And the country did. "The people of Ukraine are grateful for the support and donations of the global crypto community while we protect our freedom," Ukraine’s official Twitter account said today. "We are now also accepting Polkadot donations."

However, Ukraine’s official Twitter account has also intrigued the crypto community with a mysterious statement – they shared that an "airdrop has not yet been confirmed."

The answer seems to be addressed to users who have speculated that those who donate to official addresses could be qualified for some kind of airdrop.

However, it is unclear what is meant by "airdrop" or what exactly it can mean. That said, many Cryptoverse residents seem excited by the prospect. Zhu Su, CEO and co-founder of Three Arrows Capital, commented:

"Make history here, if it happens in the end, the first creation of Digitally Native National Value."

The well-known Ethereum (ETH) educator Anthony Sassano said it was a "good way to get more people to donate."

And others were just "big confused."

NFTs for Ukrainian charities

Meanwhile, Ikonia, an incubator and NFT platform based in Kiev and Gothenburg, has launched a new collection of NFTs – one for each Ukrainian citizen – to raise funds for three Ukrainian charities. Each of the NFTs, which is called ‘Stand with Ukraine’, is intended to represent a Ukrainian citizen, according to a press release shared with * *.

The NFTs will be available for USD 10 each and can be purchased with a credit or debit card. Patrik Arnesson, co-founder and CEO of Ikonia, was quoted as saying: "The scale of the invasion has taken us all by surprise and as we speak, the freedom, history and soul of Ukraine are under threat. We cannot stand idly by; we must provide support."

According to his LinkedIn profile, the NFTs were designed in collaboration with Felipe Posada, an artist and creative director living in New York.

In particular, the buyer would have the opportunity to choose one of the three Ukrainian charities audited by Ikonia, including * Return Alive *, * Everybody Can * and * Ukraine Humanitarian Fund *.

"We call on the global NFT community and NFT projects – such as Bored Apes, Cryptopunks, Doodles and others – to join forces and promise to donate proceeds to this beautiful country in its darkest hour. Together we can withstand aggression" Arnesson added.

According to the latest data from the research company Elliptic, the Ukrainian government and organizations supporting the military have so far raised a total of USD through more than transactions.
