Argentina Forms National Blockchain Commission
More and more countries are now considering how implementing blockchain technology could improve some of their public functions . Argentina recently issued national guidelines for blockchain.
The documentpresented on December 7 stated the responsibility “to act as an interlocutor in the local his blockchain ecosystem to promote interoperability of blockchain technologies.” We will also create a National Blockchain Commission with and good government. The
Board will consist of the Public Innovation Office and other state organizations that develop blockchain-based public policy and technology solutions. However, these other organizations called upon to serve on the committee are not detailed as part of the published framework.
Areas of Interest
Frameworks issued by governments point to several uses where blockchain technology could support state-specific functions. The first area profiled for use is auditing, given the large size and scope of some government structures. Blockchain has been proposed as a dual-function element in this respect. Allowing citizens to see how the state invests public money and centralizing all public processes using one structure.
The second area concerns citizen identification. The Argentine government believes blockchain could help aid the identification process by avoiding counterfeiting of IDs and other documents issued by the authorities. By organizing the system around the blockchain, third parties will have an easy way to verify the validity of these documents.
In this regard, there are already initiatives to use blockchain for this purpose. The city of Buenos Aires is currently implementing a system called Tangoid, and he plans to go live in January as part of a push to go digital. The city is also running an Ethereum node as an experiment to examine the inner workings of the cryptocurrency and better understand it for regulatory purposes.
