Formula One Team Haas F1 to Mint Branded NFTs With Opensea

The Haas F1 team, the U.S. Formula One constructor, announces its collaboration with non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace Oppensea a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace. As part of the agreement, a collection of NFTs will be produced for Haas and the Opena logo will appear on its cars.

Oppensea Helps Launch NFT Collection for American F1 Team

Oppensea, a leading peer-to-peer marketplace for non-fiat tokens, will create an NFT collection for Haas F1. The collaboration was announced Thursday by Haas, the only American-owned team competing in the FIA Formula One World Championship. In a press release on its website, Haas F1 said.

As the “Official NFT Marketplace Partner” of the Haas F1 team, Open Sea will work with the team and external collaborators to create a collection of branded NFT.

The initiative aims to increase engagement with fans, the racing team said. Shiva Rajaraman, Open Sea’s vice president of products, said, “NFT has the amazing power to evoke new experiences and give us a canvas to bring people together around what they love in new ways.”

The executive emphasized that the crypto company is looking forward to launching an innovative collection with Haas F1 and providing new opportunities for the community of avid fans to get closer to the action.

The agreement also allows the Open Sea logo to appear on the VF-22, the car designed and built by the Haas F1 team to compete in the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship.

Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner said, “We had been waiting to find the right partner in the NFT field, and we found exactly that with OpenSea.”

Steiner also commented on Haas F1’s first steps into the NFT field, “Having OpenSea to guide us on our collections and fan engagement opportunities not only connects them with all the key players, but also puts innovation at the forefront industry leaders, we are confident we can do a good job.”

Collaborations between the crypto industry and popular racing sports have gained traction in recent years: in the summer of 2021, Formula 1 signed a multi-million dollar crypto sponsorship deal with Crypto.com, and in early 2022, Red Bull Racing partnered with crypto exchange Bybit In mid-October, F1 filed eight trademark applications in the U.S. covering a variety of crypto, NFT and metaverse products and services
