Financial services giant Visa has embarked on activating soccer fans for the upcoming World Cup Qatar 2022 with its Non-Fusible Token (NFT) initiative.FIFA’s payment partners have teamed up with the governing body’s crypto sponsor to celebrate the most popular sport, art, and technology on the planet.
Visa and Crypto.com offer soccer fans iconic NFTs and the opportunity to create their own tokens
Visa, the official payment technology partner of FIFA, soccer’s governing body, has announced the launch of a series of unique digital collectibles representing the iconic goals of five legendary soccer players Visa Masters of Movement NFT is nowavailableon Crypto.com, sponsor of FIFA’s official crypto trading platform.
The auction will take place ahead of the 2022 World Cup, which will take place between November 20 and December 18 this year. The experience will be realized in an interactive pitch at the FIFA Fan Festival in Doha later this month, where fans will also be offered the opportunity to create digital art inspired by their signature movement and cast it into their NFT, the press release detailed.
Commenting on the initiative, Andrea Fairchild, Visa’s senior vice president and head of sponsorship, said.
As the FIFA World Cup 2022 approaches, we want to celebrate soccer, art, and technology through the lens that makes the FIFA World Cup so special – the passionate fans, the legendary athletes, and for a few short weeks, the unique ability to bring the world together in a way.
The project will feature five images of goals scored by Jared Borghetti, Tim Cahill, Carli Lloyd, Michael Owen, and Maxi Rodriguez and will be published as an NFT. Fans can bid on the Visa Masters of Movement NFTs at Crypto.com through November 8.
“The FIFA World Cup is one of the most anticipated sporting events in the world and we are very excited to offer fans a new way to participate in this spectacular event,” added Steven Kalifowitz, Chief Marketing Officer of Crypto.com. He noted that tokens created and collected by fans will live forever on the blockchain.
The highest bidder for each NFT will receive a token in their Crypto.com wallet as well as a memorabilia signed by the featured legendary player Visa also stated that all proceeds from the auction will be donated toStreet Child United. It also stated that all proceeds from the auction will be donated to Street Child United, a UK-based charity that addresses the stigma faced by street children around the world.
