Vishal Shah, Meta’s Vice President of Metaverse, acknowledged that the flagship app Horizon Worlds, which Meta is using to demonstrate the potential of the Metaverse, has He acknowledged that many issues remain that affect its usability. Horizon Worlds is an app designed to appeal to users who currently purchase Meta Quest-branded VR headsets, which, as of this writing, is the only way to experience these worlds. The company has hinted at launching a platform for the web environment, but no further information was provided.
Lack of Employee “Love”
For Mark Zuckerberg, the idea of Metaverse and its future importance is vital to the company’s growth. in July, Meta announced that its Metaverse division, Reality Labs reported a loss of $2.8 billion due to poor performance. Shah also believes the concept is strong and significant. In his memo, he states.
Since launching late last year, we have seen that Horizon Worlds’ core thesis of a synchronous social network where creators can build engaging worlds is strong.
However, as of September 15, when this memo was written, the company’s employees were actively avoiding spending time on the platform; a follow-up memo sent on September 30 confirmed that this was still the case, with Shah noting that employees were quotas for access to Horizon Worlds, implying that the company would set quotas for employees to access Horizon Worlds.
Shah attempted to entice the employee, stating.
Everyone in this organization should make it their mission to love Horizon Worlds. You can’t do that without using it. Try to use it. Set aside time to do it with your colleagues and friends.
