Solana Network Suffers Another Outage — Cyber Capital Founder Says Downtime Is ‘Another Consequence of Bad Design’

Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain network Solana suffered another outage on September 30, and a network restart took effect six hours later on October 1. Solana has suffered countless network outages over the last year, and the blockchain’s latest downtime caused the network’s native currency to slide 4% lower against the US dollar in the last 24 hours.

Solana’s blockchain dealt with more downtime – misconfigured nodes were blamed for the outages

Solana’s network went down again after a misconfigurationof a nodein the systemcaused a validator to fail to process blocks; on September 30, 2022, the Twitter account “Solana Status”wrote:

The Solana network has failed and is unable to process transactions. Developers throughout the ecosystem are working to diagnose the problem and restart the network. More information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.

Following the Solana Status update, a Solana proponent explained that the blockchain will be restarted.” The Solana mainnet network will be restarted in slot 153139220, the last confirmed slot.” That individualsaid.” It appears that a misconfigured node caused an unrecoverable partition in the network. The verifier should be enlisted to find a consensus of relevant data.

During the outage, Solana Status shared instructions on how the validator should participate in the restart.” Main Net Beta Validator. Follow instructions for cluster restart,” Solana Status emphasized,At approximately 3 AM ET, Solana Status detailed that a cluster restart had been deployed.” The validator operator successfully completed a cluster restart of the main net beta at 7 AM UTC.” Solana Status wrote. The team added:

network operators [and] apps will be restoring client services over the next few hours.

Observers Ask: ‘What Good Is the Nakamoto Coefficient of 30 if 1 Misconfigured Node Can Bring Everything to a Halt?’

Solana has been working to ensure that blockchain approaching its 10th outage since Solana’s inception and received much criticism from the crypto community when the outage occurred. Justin Bonds, founder of CyberCapital, blasted the project for the most recent outage.” Solana” is down again.” Cyber Capital foundertweeted.” This is the 8th time [Solana] has gone down in the past year. Blockchain should never have [downtime], yet [Solana] is down almost every month. This is another result of bad design,” Bonds added.

Another asked about problems with misconfigured nodes.” Def not FUD… Honest question… . what good is a midbook factor of 30 if one misconfigured node can stop everything?” The individualasked. Meanwhile, Solana supporters brushed off the criticism and told people that the blockchain network will continue to improve as long as engineers persist.

“Solana will be fine,” one personremarkedon Twitter.” As long as the developers keep improving the “blockchain.” That’s what matters. Still bullish on [Solana] long term.

What do you think about Solana’s latest hiccup on Sept. 30, do you agree that Solana will work? Or do you agree that it is the result of “bad design?” Let us know what you think about this subject in the comments section below.
