Spanish Soccer League Laliga Partners With Globant to Support New Web3 and Metaverse Initiatives

Spanish Premier Soccer League organization Laliga has announced a partnership with Argentine software giant Globant to provide fans with a Web3 and Metaverse experience. The partnership will combine Globant’s technical resources with Laliga’s technology department to build products that will expand the organization’s reach in the digital realm.

Laliga will receive assistance from Globant to build its Metaverse stack.

Large sports organizations are moving closer to the digital world as a way to reach new fans and offer users new interaction possibilities. LaLiga, Spain’s premier soccer league organization, recentlyannounced a partnership that will play a role in expanding the company’s digital reach. The organization partnered with Buenos Aires-based software giant Globant to build a Metaverse and Web3 experience for current fans and new users.

These new additions will come to complement the current digital offerings of Laliga’s technology division, which currently includes fantasy games, web design and development, and other areas. The press release about the agreement hints at the possibility of developing games using these new technologies. However, no specific products have been announced directly as a result of this partnership.

Laliga’s Metaverse Move

Laliga is one of several sports league organizations making moves to digitize some of its operations. This month, the company partnered with Decentraland, an Ethereum-based metaverse platform, to offer a licensed IP experience in one of the parcels available in its metaverse. Similarly, the organization recentlylaunched its own app called MAS,which includes blockchain technology to protect fan identities.

It has alsoentered the traditional gaming assets market, offering licensed productsin Mojang’s block game Minecraft. The game allows users to equip any character with the jerseys of the various teams present on the Rallyga roster by purchasing skin packs.

Lariga has previously announced NFT-based projects, including a 2021 partnership with Dapper Labs, creators of NBA Top Shots and Cryptokitties,and the league’s best in storyto publish NFTs depicting the best moments in the NBA Top Shots.
