On September 21, the Uniswap Foundation announced the first wave of grants aimed at strengthening the decentralized finance (Defi) ecosystem and advancing research and development.According to UF, the foundation will distribute $1.8 million in the form of 14 grants, with project Uniswap Diamond receiving the largest amount The Uniswap Diamond project, which is in the process of being produced by GFX Labs, will receive a total of $808,725 over three disbursements. The University of Florida said the project is “one of the most ambitious efforts ever funded by Uniswap Grants.”
Other grants will be awarded to projects such as Uniswap.fish (formerly Uniswap Calculator), the Uniswap data extraction tool, and a constant function market maker calledNumoenMarket Maker. And the Uniswap v3 development course.UF detailed that the size and scope of the grant is divided into three categories.
- protocol growth, including a distributed volatile oracle, and data analysis tools to extract data from the Uniswap subgraph to a CSV file.
- Community growth, including Uniswap v3 development courses and events in Latin America, Africa, and Canada.
- Governance stewardship, including a deep dive into the state of the Uniswap delegation and translation into a set of recommendations for improving governance.
In addition, Uniswap community-based grants are given to promote Defi in Latin America and Africa. This includes a “series of events, workshops, and gatherings” in Latin America and “sponsorship of the Ghana Crypto and Defi Summit 2022. “UF further explains that the grant will be awarded toPhi Metaverseexplains that grants will be awarded to “support the creation of uniswap-specific in-game assets and quests.” Grants are also available to sponsor “Ignition Hacks,” a virtual hackathon, and grants for the governance stewardship solution HoldimHoldim.
