Singapore Tops List of 8 Countries ‘Most Interested in the Ethereum Merge’

Among the countries most interested in the upcoming The Merge on the Ethereum blockchain, Singapore ranks top with a total search score of 377, Coingecko’s new survey reveals. The study also found that among the top eight countries, Proof of Work (PoW)-related searches were 169% higher than Proof of Stake (PoS)-related searches.

According to a new Coingecko survey to determine which countries are most interested in Ethereum (ETH) Merge events, Singapore tops the list with a “total search score of 377.” The country was found to have the highest search levels for the phrases “Ethereum Merge,” “” “ETH Classic,” and “Ethereum” and was the most searched for globally.

Canada and Switzerland tied for second place with a score of 286. As per the findings, Switzerland primarily searches for “” while Canada searches for “” ETHand “” ETH” Canada, on the other hand, scores highest for “ETH“; ETH” is the highest. POW” is an acronym for Ethereum’s proof-of-work consensus mechanism.

The survey, conducted between July 1 and September 4, 2022, also found that Germany, the United States, and Turkey had the “highest search levels for the term ethereum POW.” The Netherlands and Australia are “3rd and 4th in search levels for; 3rd and 4th in search levels for ETH; 3rd and 4th in search levels for ETH

Commenting on the findings, Bobby Ong, COO and co-founder of Coingecko, said.

Expectations for Merge are at an all-time high as its effects ripple throughout the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The top eight rankings on this list seem to encompass countries with strong ethereum communities, which may explain the high search scores in this survey.

Ong also notes that a large number of miners may want to continue mining, which could result in the creation of “multiple controversial hard forks after Merge.” According to the co-founder, search terms such as “Ethereum POW” and “” have spiked because of the high likelihood of such a hard fork.ETH Over the past two months, “POW.”
