Sorare Partners With NBA to Build a Licensed NFT Game

Solare, a French fantasy gaming startup, has reached an agreement with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to build a non-fossil token (NFT) game under license, which will the rights to use the league’s team names and player likenesses. The company had already signed similar agreements with Major League Baseball (MLB) in North America and some European soccer leagues, such as LaLiga in Spain, and is now the NBA’s official NFT partner.

Solare to release an NBA-licensed game based on NFT

French fantasy NFT gaming company Solare has announceda new partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in North America to build NFT-based games. The company announced that it has signed a multi-year agreement to become the official NFT partner of the league. This means the company will be able to use the likenesses of players, teams, and the league in its future products.

Like other games already announced by the organization, the upcoming game will allow users to create teams with NFT card players and earn points based on the actual performance of the players. Likewise, teams will be able to participate in a series of fantasy challenges on the Solare platform.

Commenting on this development, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said.

Our partnership with Sorare will provide NBA fans with an entirely new way to engage with our teams and players, and with Sorare’s new NFT fantasy platform, we will be able to expand our community of fans and provide a global NBA We see a tremendous opportunity to grow basketball.

This is not the league’s first foray into blockchain. Dapper Labs, which operates the Ethereum game Cryptokitties, also partnered with the NBA to launch Top Shots in October 2020 with great success.

The Evolution of Sorare

This new partnership brings a third sport to Sorare’s fantasy platform, which has already reached similar agreements with similar leagues in different sports and countries. Last September, the company partnered with one of Europe’s most famous soccer leagues, Spain’s LaLiga, and Germany’s Bundesliga

We also signed a similar agreement with MLB (Major League Baseball) last May, becoming the official NFT partner for baseball.

With the latest infusion of capital, Solare has reached a $4.3 billion valuation and raised $600 million in a Series B financing round in September 2021.
