FIFA to Launch NFT Platform for Soccer Fans

International soccer governing body FIFA has announced the upcoming launch of its NFT platform for soccer fans worldwide. digital collectibles that will perpetuate the best match moments of the World Cup, the organization promised.

FIFA will develop the NFT platform in partnership with blockchain company Algorand

Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is preparing to launch a new platform for non-fundable tokens (NFTs) later this month. At the launch, FIFA+Collect will release the initial range of tokens and announce details about the upcoming exclusive and limited collection, the organization said in a press release published Friday.

The digital collectibles will represent memorable moments from soccer matches and feature iconic art and images from the FIFA World Cup and FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments. FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Guy commented, “With this exciting announcement, FIFA merchandise is available to every soccer fan, democratizing their ability to own a piece of the FIFA World Cup,” adding.

Like sports memorabilia and stickers, this is an opportunity for fans around the world to be exposed to their favorite players, moments and more on a new platform.

FIFA+ Collect is the Federation’s digital platform for accessing live coverage of soccer matches around the world, interactive games, news, tournament information, and other original content FIFA + will be available on FIFA+ Collect, which will initially be available in English, French and Spanish, but will gradually be made available on both the web and mobile devices.

FIFA’s NFT platform was created as part of a partnership with Algorand announced earlier this year. The company’s interim CEO W. Sean Ford said, “FIFA’s commitment to the bridge to Web3 enabled by Algorand is a testament to their innovative spirit and desire to engage directly and seamlessly with soccer fans.”In May, FIFA and block chain technology companyagreed to a sponsorship and technology partnership agreementahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
