Following the successful implementation of The Merge into Ethereum’s Goerli testnet, Ethereum developers confirmed during the Consensus Layer Call live stream that the much anticipated Proof After the Ethereum network’s Total Terminal Difficulty (TTD) reached 587500000000000000000, the chain, which started as a proof-of-work (PoW ) chain, which started as a blockchain, will be fully transitioned to a PoS blockchain.
The merge will have a new execution date
Major changes lie ahead for Ethereum, and in Consensus Layer Call #93, Ethereum developers confirmed that The Merge will take place when the network’s TTD reaches 5875000000000000000000000.
