For 38 Consecutive Days Ethereum Gas Fees Record the Lowest Rates Since 2020

In 43 days, Ethereum’s network could undergo a full transition from proof-of-work (PoW) to proof-of-stake (PoS) by The Merge. Meanwhile, over the past 38 days, Ethereum’s Layer 1 (L1) on-chain transaction fees have fallen below $5, and further tumbled at the end of July. At the time of this writing, the average network fee for ethereum is 0.00086 ether, or $1.46 per transfer. Median size fees are even lower, with statistics showing that on Sunday morning (EST), transfer fees ranged from $0.21 to $0.576 per transfer.

Ethereum gas costs remain the lowest rate since December 2020, and ether transfers top the burn rate at Opensea

For some time now, ethereum data rates for trading on the network have been much lower than normal. In fact, the average ethereum network fee today is 0.00086 ether or1.46 per transfer

and is the lowest since December 12, 2020.

Basically, the gas fee is the amount of ethereum (ETH) needed to transfer data on-chain, and the feefor simply pushing. the ERC20 tokens and interacting with smart contracts is associated ETHis less expensive than the fee.

Statistics from bitinfocharts.com, Sunday, August 7, 2022.

The average Ethereum network fee today is about $1.46 per transfer, whilestatistics from etherscan.io’s gas trackershow that gas fees are between 5 and 6 qwei or $0.21 to $0.32 per transfer indicates that the gas fee is between 5 and 6 qwei or $0.21 to $0.32 per transfer. Gas Tracker also shows that the cost to execute an Onpensea sale is between $0.73 and $1.10 per transaction, while decentralized exchange (dex) swaps are between $1.88 and $2.82 per transfer.

to push ERC20 tokens like USDTand USDC are estimated to be about $0.55 to $0.83 per transfer on Sunday morning (EST). bitinfocharts.com data shows that Sunday’s median size fee is; $0.00034 ether or $0.576 per transaction. Ethereum transfers contribute significantly to theburn of ETHdue to the Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 1559.

Opensea was once the largest contributor to2,573,837 Ethereum (ETH) ever destroyed. However, Ethereum transfers are now the largest contributor to the destruction of Ether at 232,233 ETH has been burned to date.54} As ETHsupply growth jumped to 5.5 million per year, the deflation burn mechanism of EIP-1559 destroying about 0.2 million ether.

Since the inception of EIP-1559, traditional Ethereum transactions have amounted to approximately 156,422,214 transactions, and roughly 649.79 ether was destroyed during the last 24 hours fromETHtransactions and various other types of data transfer. Approximately 649.79 ether was destroyed during the last 24 hours from

L2 fees offer a cheaper alternative to ethereum transfers

As far as layer 2 (L2) transactions are concerned, fees via L2 are much cheaper than L1. At the time of this writing, Loopring and Zksync offer the cheapest L2 alternatives; Loopring’s fee is $0.01 per transaction and Zksync’s fee is also $1 USD per transaction in value. The cost of swapping tokens using these L2 platforms can be a touch costly, as the estimated Zksync swap fee is $0.02 today, while the Loopring swap fee is over $0.42 per transaction.

Statistics from l2fees.info, Sunday, August 7, 2022.

Optimism L2 gas costs roughly $0.03 per transaction, while Arbitrum One could cost $0.05 per transfer; if swapping on Optimism’s platform, user costs are USD, while Arbitrum swaps are estimated to cost about $0.08 today. On August 7, the Metis, Boba, and Aztec networks and Polygon Hermez also offer lower L2 fees.
