A Namibian university plans to offer a master’s degree in blockchain technology starting in 2024, a senior official at the university said. The university has already “injected” blockchain technology-based content into its level 8 program.

The University of Namibia (UNAM), Namibia’s higher education institution, plans to offer courses related to blockchain technology starting in 2024, according to Samuel Nuungulu, head of the university’s IT department.
Nuungulu, who chairs UNAM’s steering committee on the MSc in Blockchain Technology, said that by introducing the degree program, the university is “laying the foundation for the possible incubation of technology startups from the skills this program will create in the country.” He told Bitcoin.com News that he hopes.
Asked why UNAM chose to introduce a level 9 master’s degree program, Nuungulu said.
Blockchain is the future and we saw the need to use this degree as a pioneer to develop these skills that are widely needed in the country and on the continent.
The Chancellor also revealed that the University has already “injected” blockchain technology-based content into UNAM’s Level 8 program, which the University hopes to transmit to the Senate by next year.
UNAM’s MSc Steering Committee on Blockchain also includes Gurvy Kavei, an author who recently published a book aimed at helping readers grasp the basics of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.Bitcoin.com In a recent interview with the News, Kavei similarly confirmed that the university will be introducing a blockchain course.
He said that reports suggesting that central banks are considering issuing digital currencies, and proposals to use blockchain-based solutions in both the public and private sectors, necessitated the introduction of degree programs.
